FUT - The Danish Association of Young Timber and Building Merchants

The inevitable meeting point

FUT - The Danish Association of Young Timber and Building Merchants was founded in 1951 and with its approximately 1500 members it's one of the largest youth timber merchants organisations in the world.

The purpose of the association is to unite women and men working in the timber and building merchants´ trade or similar trades in order to keep its members informed about matters concerning the trade.

This is achieved primarily through the association's magazine FUT, the homepage www.fut.dk, and by means of lectures, training courses, conferences, and educational trips.

In addition the association allocates work or practical experience abroad for young people in particular - to the extent possible.

Then...

The association was started by a group of young men in the timber trade, who met at a trainee stay in southern Sweden working at a sawmill.

FUT soon attracted many new members, both young and old. The growth made it possible to initiate an extensive range of competence building activities e.g. courses, visits to suppliers, and educational trips.

...and now

The courses are still very wide-ranging and cover all aspects of the trade - both professional and social.

The educational trips have mainly gone to Nordic countries such as Sweden, Norway and Finland, but as the number of suppliers has grown, it has gradually become possible to arrange visits to other countries such as Germany, England, France, North and South America, Russia and the Baltic States, the Orient and latest in 2005 China.

Thus, no coincidence that the Association is acknowledged as "the inevitable meeting point" for everyone in the building trade. There are always a lot of exciting possibilities as a member of FUT - The Danish Association of Young Timber and Building Merchants.

Who's behind?

The Association is run by a voluntary and honorary board, who are all young people working in the trade.
